Does getting a little red in the summer hurt a black tattoo?

Got my full neck done a year ago, and this summer seems to be especially hard on it. I’m rarely in the sun, but when I am, I’ve got spf50 on. Seems like my neck is always pink and “tanner” than the rest of my body even though I’m using sunscreen. There isn’t much more I can do, but I feel like I’m slowly killing my ink…am I?
