Help with Instagram?

Hi guys, I needed some advice/help. Didn't know where else to post this.

A little context first. I have kinda been on a social hiatus for a couple of years. Before that nearly all my social circle was active on WhatsApp. After my break, when I wanna reconnect I see nearly all have moved to Instagram. My issue is that a meta (Facebook?) collects so much data. I know I have WhatsApp but due to family restrictions I can't get rid of it.

So I really am in a dilemma, join a place I don't want to in order to reconnect with my friends and find new ones or stay away from that data sucking, mind addicting ecosystem and live a loner ( which I have no problem with btw)

Ps: I get all companies collect data, but on a personal side I'm trying to reduce it as much as possible.
