Our boy that’s a little over a year old keeps marking us. Not just peeing in the house, peeing ON US. He also often marks laundry and the bed if he has the opportunity, to the point that we’ve swapped the door hinges so that the doors close automatically behind us. He was neutered the day he hit the required weight. I had two boy cats as a kid and I have never had to deal with this behavior before. He looks upset as he’s doing it- like he knows it’s wrong but it’s like he can’t stop himself. We live on a farm- 3 cats of our own, 1 boy 2 girls. There are three other cats, and 1 other boy, who is the resident farm cat. He’s at least 8 or 9 (also fixed), but none of us know as he was my late brother in law’s. This cat OFTEN marks around our house and terrorizes our three even though he lives in another house on the back acre. I have to scrub my front door weekly to get rid of his pee. I’ve even opened my front door and been peed on because he was mid marking. 🙄 I know our cat peeing on us often (but not always, today he marked a basket of fresh laundry right in front of me- he snuck in behind me while I was bringing laundry baskets back and forth through the house) correlates to this other cat rubbing on us, or when I’ve done yard work (and I assume have ended up brushing some of the other cats scent on me).

Are we just stuck with this behavior till the other cat passes and our boy finally feels like alpha? I think my partner might murder him if it keeps happening. It’s so exhausting. We love him and getting rid of or rehoming him is nowhere near a solution we’d consider because he’s definitely bonded with his sisters. But I’m so tired of coming inside and getting peed on, or worse yet getting woken up from a couch nap because warm pee is soaking through your clothes.

What to do with our little peeing criminal?
