Quirky Detail in S1E1

Hey everyone, I was rewatching Friends Season 1 episode 1 and caught something kinda interesting. It’s at the beginning of the scene where Ross and Rachel split Oreos and Ross hints at some day asking Rachel out. At the start of the scene you can hear a TV channel going off the air, like the old-school sign-off thing where the national anthem is played followed with static and that test pattern vibe.

What’s funny is, since the show is set in the mid-90s (when it aired), most TV channels—especially in NYC—were already broadcasting 24/7, right? So it feels a bit out of place.

Did anyone else notice this? Or am I just hyper-focused on a weird little detail? Would love to hear what you think!
