Reasonable loss on boat?

Hi Everyone, I have a unique situation with my boat. My father in law passed away last year and he was a big time boat guy, lived 365 on a lake house with the boat in the water. When we found out he was sick and didn’t have more than a few months, he started wrapping things up and was going to sell the boat which he loved. My wife and I made a decision we would buy the boat from him privately so he could still enjoy it with the time he had left and not worrying about unloading it. Plus the money would help him as he planned to do some traveling.

So long story short, we always planned to sell it, we paid him $4500 for it and it’s a ‘94 sunbird Corsair 180 with an OMC 4.3 v6 inboard. It’s a bow rider and has the trailer and some water sport peripherals.

I know it wasn’t the best deal but it wasn’t really our intention at the time to haggle on it. It is what he paid for it a few years prior. Now that it’s summer we are trying to sell and I can’t get a single bite on it. I listed on FB marketplace for $4500 thinking someone might try to negotiate and then I dropped to $4000 and now I’m at $3300 with not a single message.

Is this just a completely undesirable boat? Or am I still way off the mark on price? I look at similar ads and can’t seem to find any rhyme or reason on what sells and doesn’t sell when compared to mine.

Mechanically, it fires up right away, has plenty of power, looks good and inside has a new stereo, newer seats, carpet, etc. I also have owned a boat before so I’m not totally new to this but I’m also not that experienced.

Any insight would be appreciated. I basically just want to get rid of it with as little loss as possible as we all do.
