Need drum kit advice, I'm not a drummer.

I'm looking to buy a new kit for my band. My drummer is currently financially strapped, and is not in any position to buy drums. We're playing classic country and some classic rock. I'm looking for a 70s dry drum sound, with a deep heavy snare sound. I love Waylon Jennings drum sound.

I would appreciate any suggestions on drum kits and which sizes I should be looking for. My drummer is fantastic but he doesn't know anything about classic country drums and would appreciate any advice as well.
