Can there really only be 10 people in my city using OLD?

This seems crazy but there are around 150,000 people in my city, and on multiple apps I seem to only see maybe 10. Tinder for instance, if I set the filters to 0-25km from me, I will see the same handful of profiles on repeat. Like I can close the app, reopen it, and see the same profile I just swiped on. I can repeat this process any number of times and I don't even need to scroll through their profiles to know what they say because I already know!

Same with bumble and FB dating. I can put the filter as 25km or 35km, and age range to say 23-29, and there will be NO profiles at all to see. The rest of the filters are unused. How can this be the case???

Not to mention on many of the apps when I do set a filter such as range or what they are looking for (LTR), it will constantly still show me people outside of these filters settings. I actually bought a month of Tinder for 67$ and instantly regretted it and refunded, because the filters do not work and it just kept showing me the same profiles. Even when I would swipe left on the people in the "liked me" tab, they would just reappear when I reopened the app.

These apps are lowkey awful, extortionate in their pricing, why do we all put up with this?
