Even the greens know....

SpoilerGeneral

That the bastardy is just an excuse to blame Rhaenyra. If it was the main reason she shouldn't get the throne (not that it's a question in a monarchy but I digress for now) was her eldest sons, characters in-universe would use it.

No one was out here trying to usurp Rhaenyra for having bastards. If none of the Alicent 's children ever existed and everything else remained the same, no one would be making the bastardy argument.

Sure Alicent is always complaining about the bastardy but it's her personal vendetta. It's a null argument. It only ever came up during the Velaryon succession and even then Rhaenyra and Corlys figured it out + the betrothals.

TG can complain all they want but who was gonna stop Jace from ascending if the Targaryens still have their firepower. Maegor usurped the throne, attacked the faith and was hated by so many but until his mysterious death, no one could stop him.

Also, the Velaryon boys aren't legally bastards because the Velaryons accepted them. What TG does is akin to what Aegon IV the Unworthy, spreading rumors about Daeron II the Good, being a bastard. People may or may not believe it but who's gonna stop him? Sure the Blackfyre rebellion was a problem for the Targaryen for generations but at the end of the day, Daeron 's line inherited everything and kept the power. The Blackfyres never came closer to get the throne and this is all without the dragons.

It's not like the legal bastards never inherited anything. Even Alyn inheriting Driftmark after Corlys is a clear case of Corlys choosing his bastard (I refuse to believe they're Laenor 's) over his legitimate heir- Baela and Rhaena. Sure Alyn was opposed in the beginning but it was quickly taken care of. And when Corlys named Addam (rip) his heir first, the Velaryons were the richest and the second most powerful house in Westeros.

Rhaenyra also gets usurped in all the drafted versions of the Dance, whether she had trueborn sons or no children, at all. TG can stop pretending it's anything but misogyny against Rhaenyra.

Rhaenyra shouldn't have had to be perfect on order to inherit. It's her birthright, just like it is for all the men.
