IUD no longer preventing periods and pain spontaneously. Has this happened to anyone else?

For almost EXACTLY 4 years I have had a kyleena IUD and it has been amazing. Starting my second period, I noticed a huge decrease in pain and no bleeding. It has been amazing and I felt like I had my life back. I could go to school and work and events and see my friends and not have to worry about calling out or if the pain would affect my ability to function. I loved it so much!

Unfortunately today at work I started getting the WORST cramps and I was sure I would ill or having another ovarian cyst. I went to the bathroom and noticed there was a lot of bright red blood (haven’t had this in YEARS- my blood has only been pink or brown over the years). And the cramping got so much worse throughout my shift. It felt like the symptoms I had escaped for 4 years were back at full force. I was so shocked and confused since my period was LITERALLY completely FINE last month! I felt nothing! But suddenly this month it’s like I don’t even have an IUD! What the hell!

I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this experience or a similar one. It’s pretty much exactly 4 years later, down the month and even within two weeks of each date (weird). Follow up- has anyone had any success with getting their IUD replaced early? Thankies
