Hitchhiking to trailheads in Alberta National Parks

Hey everyone, was wondering if anyone has had any experience in hitchhiking to trailheads in Southern Alberta. This would be my first time attempting hitchhiking aswell. It would be near/outside of a a tourist town in National Parks, is it common for people to pick up hitchhikers, especially if they are typically families? Would love some more advice about this.
