Why sometimes you can do better in higher elo, and it makes sense

Gameplay

We can agree that higher rank means (sometimes) more skilled players. How is it then possible that you could get stomped in gold/emerald, but queue same champion in diamond and then win easily? I'm gonna explain it on my example.

When I played lethality Varus in "higher elo", I could poke enemies. I landed my R in late game, and poke someone for 50% hp? Nice, now I can ping that next R is in 30 seconds, and my team will wait. Now we stall a bit, while I poke with q, and either enemies recall, and we win objective, or they stay damaged, and lose fight anyway.

Now what happens in same situation in gold? My ally will see 50% hp target, do flash forward to try to kill him, jump in 1vs5 and die. (While all my skills are on cooldown because I just used them). Then two another players follow it, and we just force bad team fight and all die. And then they ping that my R was on cooldown, and why I didn't do DMG with poke build.

That doesn't mean I played worse as lethality/poke Varus in lower elo. Sometimes you need to adapt the play style to the rank you are in. If people around your elo don't work well with your champion/play style, it's easier to adapt yourself, to climb, than to try to force your allies to play around you.

If your allies cant take your Bard healing shrines, then easiest fix is to stop picking Bard, untill you get to elo where they do. Ur ulti will just disrupt low elo players more than help them.

If your teammates back off after you ult them as Shen, then stop picking Shen untill you get into elo where they dont do that.

If you struggle by often having low range team and losing to poke, then maybe its time to stop picking Nilah adc.

If you see that teams dont peel you in fights, then maybe dont first-pick Jinx. It doesnt matter that you're kite god, if you pick immobile adc vs Zed and Wukong. You would have higher impact if you picked ziggs to poke enemies from safe distance.

If you see that your jungler is never pathing top, while enemy does, stop forcing fights, take the L, and try to minimize the loses, instead of going 0/5/0. It doesn't matter that you win 2vs2, if your jungler is not coming. In higher elo you maybe would get countergank, and get 2 kills, but you are not getting counter gank in gold.
