I tried in vain to search online for a way to remove the safety device that was installed with my new blinds. Hopefully I can save someone else the trouble.

Once I figured out what the actual name is for the clip that holds the cord to the wall (it’s a tensioner device) I scrolled through Google images to find one that matched my own. Fortunately the vendor has an image of the components before assembly, so from there it wasn’t so hard to figure out how to disassemble it.

Once you’ve unscrewed it from the wall, you will need to slide something into the narrow slots on the back found on either side of the central clip. Tweezers might work well. I used a flat head screwdriver, and since I was too lazy to go get a second one I managed to do one side at a time while keeping tension on the first one so it wouldn’t spring back. You will need to push the flathead in and then towards the T shaped end. You can see in pics 4 & 5 what the safety clip looks like once released.

That’s really all there is to it. As soon as you’ve got the chain out of the tensioner, you’ll be able to slip the sleeve off. The center has a slit through it that is too narrow for the balls to pass through, but it still allows the cord through. Just slip it into a space between two balls and it will drop right off.

Enjoy not having to fight with your blinds every day.
