I (25F) am thinking about possibly breaking up with my boyfriend (28M) of 3+ years due to sexual incompatibility
Hi. I’m struggling a lot right now and hopefully some of you can read and respond to this with grace.
My boyfriend and I have been together 3+ years. It’s my first long term relationship, and I’ve only had shitty experiences with dating before him. Anyways, there’s a sexual incompatibility I’m honestly still struggling to accept. He has a kink of cross dressing. It’s purely sexual in nature. He told me on our first date, but I didn’t know if I would be into it or not so I tried. But he’s perfect in every other way so I’ve kept trying. But I don’t think I can do it the rest of my life, or have kids with him, etc.
The hardest part is hues my best friend, and we’re enmeshed in life. We live in a 1 bed apartment we just resigned.
I’m a bartender and that’s unfortunately a place where I’m flirted with a lot. The other night I had an experience where a very masculine man was flirting with me that I was very attracted to and I really wanted to flirt back and more. I’ve had that experience a few times. I have never thought I’d have those feelings for someone else while in a relationship and it’s so shameful. But I’m wondering if it means something is missing for me.
Anyways, I’m really struggling. Breaking up would really feel like I’m fucking my whole life up. 10 fold. We have a great relationship otherwise. But I keep craving sexual satisfaction from another kind of person. Without having to extend myself so far into something I don’t think I’m attracted to. Which also isn’t fair to him.
What should I do? How should I be thinking about this? Am I being immature and just going through the feelings of a normal long term relationship?
Also I’m 25. I feel like this was my one shot and I’m going to end up single the rest of my life if I don’t make this work and just suck it up.
TLDR: I’m wondering the cost/benefit of breaking up with my first long term relationship.
