WIBTAH if I didn't let my dad walk me down the aisle?
I (25F) am planning our wedding for 10/2026. All in all my biological father has been a nightmare so far.
For context mom and dad were divorced before I was born and my mom and stepdad have been together since I was 1. Growing up, I spent most of my time with my mom, and saw my bio dad every other weekend. My bio dad was not a safe adult and my fiancé and I have already decided when we have kids he will only have supervised interactions. Because of my bio dad's behavior we are not very close, and I've only recently been able to make regular space for him in my life.
My bio dad is also a reverend so I had intended to ask him to officiate the ceremony and then my stepdad can walk me down the aisle. My bio dad did not take this well, and when I offered to have them split the walk, he was still very unhappy. He's been throwing a tantrum the last week basically and has even gone as far as to demand that I apologize for considering my stepdad a father and calling him "dad". I didn't apologize for that. But now things are tense and while I was originally very confident in my decision- my dads wife and my sisters on my dads side have been very vocal that I'm not being fair. I'm worried more of my dad's side will make a big deal of it once we get there.
I'm not even sure how to open that conversation with my dad. He might decide not to come altogether, and I wouldn't be surprised.
