Quick Question to Apparel Associates
How many associates are usually on the floor during closing on busy days at high volume stores? I am often the only person on the floor on busy days at closing and our store is a single story location roughly the size of a football field with most of that space being covered by Apparel. At my store apparel generates the most revenue for the store followed by footwear. I envy footwear because there are usually 3 or more people on the deck while I'm the only apparel associate handling fitting rooms, customer calls, and recovery. There are some occasions where there will be 2 associates closing but even with 2 it's still a lot for the amount of traffic in the store. They wonder why nobody wants to work in apparel and why those that are hired don't last long. Can you guys give me some insight as to what it's like at your store for comparison reasons. I know some stores may not have high traffic so it may not be the same but imagine a store in large metropolitan city that is not connected to a mall center but is in a busy commercial shopping strip. Is it too much to ask that we have at least 3 apparel associates closing each night considering they complain about bad recoveries when the store is not in tip top shape the next morning.
