Turning 40 - Too late to make big changes?

ADVICE

So, I turn 40 in 13 days. Yikes. Not sure where the last 20 years went.

I have a good career, make a good living, and have some really good skills and traits that I’m proud of.

I also have a few character flaws I’d love to…. Change?

I am much better at taking care of other people, than caring for myself. I was a caregiver for my grandmother for 10 years. And make a living helping people be caregivers for their loved ones. I was also parentified in my early teens. So everyone else’s needs always came before my own. Because of this, I tended to get things I wanted, but didn’t get things I needed. Including certain life skills.

I need to be more active, eat healthier (and actually start cooking- I eat takeout way too often), and learn to handle my finances better.

Sometimes I worry it’s took late to make any big change. Not because I think I’m on deaths bed, but because it seems hard to correct 20+ years worth of bad habits.

Did you make any significant changes in your 40s? What were they?

Any advice?
