Can you offer feedback on my cleaning checklist? Offer suggestions for managing a cleaner long distance?

Am I asking too much? Is this normal? What do you expect from your cleaners during a turnover?

We are 3 hours away from our property and we’ve been struggling with our cleaner. Most recently got a msg from guests that said the sheets were not changed, second, the last guests said there was food left in the oven.

I check her work when I can bc we use the property ourselves. I have also asked for photos/video walkthrough of her finished cleans.

I was using the checklist in Turno but she said her app isn’t working so I am employing a paper list required to be physically checked and a photo sent of the completed list.

This is detailed bc I don’t want to take it for granted that she will do a task if it is not written. This clean usually takes me personally 4-5 hours, including laundry. We pay her hourly, and give a $25 bonus when a guests mentions ‘clean’ in their review.

(Side note: we don’t want to jump to firing her, we are trying to work with her and find a solution to these hiccups).

Cleaning Checklist Upon Arrival Take video walk through, take 1 photo of each room

Upon Departure Take a video walkthrough of completed clean Take the following wide angle photos: (List of 10 photos here) Lock storage closet in green room Lock storage closet in blue room Lock all windows and doors before leaving Report any damages/missing items Report low stock on any supplies, cleaners, coffee, paper towel etc.

Back Deck Arrange patio furniture Wipe down furniture of pollen/pine needles Remove cover from BBQ, clean grill and wipe side counters

Main Living Area Wipe front door and glass Shake door mats outside (front and back doors) Wipe table top and legs Vac and clean under table Dust bar stools and dining chairs Remove ashes from fireplace, if necessary Vac and clean tile around fireplace Restock firewood/kindling inside on black metal rack Remove couch cushions and vacuum any crumbs Arrange throw pillows and throws on sofa and window bench Vacuum around window bench cushion Dust under stairs, behind TV, under couch Dust stairs and landing Clean sliding glass door, windows (inside and out) and TV Clean sliding glass door track when necessary Vacuum and wash floors throughout Ensure hall closet is tidy, lifejackets hung etc. Check board games in window bench are tidy/put away Arrange Welcome Book and snack bag on table with wifi sign

Upstairs Loft Dust furniture, under sofa, along walls, top of railings etc. Clean windows Put away yoga mats Vacuum

Bathroom Clean and sanitize toilet (close lid) Wash bathtub and shower, including tiled walls Wash sink and vanity stand Wash floor with cloth or paper towel (including under vanity) Clean mirror Dust light fixture Wipe baseboards, light switches, doors and trim Restock 6 toilet paper in basket Fold 3 hand towels and place on top of toilet with sign Set out 2 bath mats on top of basket Refill hand soap, body wash, conditioner, shampoo

Kitchen Ensure dishwasher is empty Check pots, pans and metal bowls are clean and stacked in corner cabinet Check cutlery drawers, glasses and containers in island drawers and neat Clean inside/outside microwave Clean stovetop with Barkeepers Friend Check inside oven for food spills Wipe backsplash of any food/grease Wash all counters Wipe down all cabinet fronts with Bon Ami Clean vent inserts above stove with hot water and soap and return to hood fan Clean stainless steel fridge/oven of fingerprints, grease, food, hard water stains Clean inside fridge, remove all food from guests, if any Clean sink Stock one clean sponge in wrapper and one J cloth at sink Clean coffee maker (remove used pod, clean pot etc) Shake runner/rug outside Vacuum Floor Remove crumbs from toaster drawer Refill olive oil Refill sugar, if less than 1/2 full (find extra under corner cabinet) Refill dish soap Add 7-8 dish pods to cup on shelf Restock tea (if necessary) Restock coffee (if necessary) Ensure 1 roll of paper on holder and 1 full paper towel roll under sink Set out 2 tea towels Add one trash bag with blue tie to stainless steel bin (these bags are labelled in closet) Ensure 3-4 extra trash bags are stocked under sink Line recycling bin under sink with clear trash bag (these are labelled in closet)

Bedrooms Wash bedding and remake bed with clean sheets Restock towels (4) and face cloths (4 white and 2 grey) Vacuum around and under bed Dust dresser, night stands, headboards, baseboards Check inside dresser drawers for lost items Clean/dust mirror behind door Dust lamp shades Replace trash bag, if necessary

Wash all towels, including beach towels Complete all laundry, do not leave any laundry in machines or baskets, fold and put away all linens
