Opinions and advice on my situation.

Hi everyone. I’m not super financially savvy, hence asking for advice here. Also to get some different ideas and thoughts to my own.

Here is my situation:

I am 45 yo, long term partner, no kids( wanted kids but decided not to due to cost and our health issues)

I have 106,000 in savings, 100, 000 of which is in a HYSA. I have managed to save that much over about 6 years because I don’t really do anything besides work and rest.

I work full time and earn $40 hr and work anywhere from 39-46 hrs a week. We pay $700 a week for rent which we split 50/50. Other outgoings are low. Already own my car and just pay insurance, petrol, phone, food, some other bills.

My job is physically quite taxing.

I also have a whole slew of health issues. The main one being a type of autoimmune arthritis that has been getting steadily worse. I love my job and I love working but I need to think about my future working life. I can’t keep going like this. I’m in so much pain everyday. Despite getting all the treatment that’s available to me. Realistically I need to look at working less hours or getting different job. I only studied up to my cert 3 at tafe.

My partner also has heaps of health issues and earns about 1/3 of what I make because of it.

I guess what I want to know is, is it worth investing some of those savings in something else? Or leave it in the hysa in case I need to leave work for a while? I’m so overwhelmed by life at this point. My life entails work, many drs appointments and nothing social or fun because I’m too tired/in pain and I’m paranoid I’ll need the money for paying rent down the line so I save instead of spend. Thank you for any words of advice
