Can a 1 year rent history (verification of rent) help with thin credit history?

Can a 1 year rent history which is 2400/month (verification of rent) help with thin credit history? All are good; 720 credit score, paid off credit cards, annual salary of 72k. Lender told us we need credit history and she told us also that she would verify if verification of rent can be included. We are going conventional 97 Fannie mae on a new build house priced at 340k in sw florida.
