Should I get the game?

I absolutely HATED the backtracking and exploration in fallen order, it made finishing the game a chore and the only thing keeping me going through the game was finishing the story. Is Survivor any better? I’m interested in continuing Cals story but I’m just curious if the game is just as much a backtracking slog as the first one because if so I might put it off for another year or 2
