Amount of Responsibility
Has anyone had a parent with Parkinson's who puts a tremendous amount of responsibility on one child but does not put any responsibility on other children? The other children do not have any responsibility and ignore calls and messages. The one who is taking care of the stuff has to deal with all the things: doctors, lawyers, caregivers, apt, financial and any other needed thing. There are conversations and the parent wants to argue or be difficult. The kids who dont help who are 10 and 12 years older. I've pleaded with my father to speak to my siblings. I've pleaded to ask them to call more. I've had the caregivers send messages. I had to motivate them to do something for father's day. The oldest sibling was slightly more helpful but then he said he was going to do like his younger brother. They are 54 and 53. I've been pushed to a limit the past year and I've been so unwell mentally. I am not married and my family is not offering a support system. One brother will sometimes answer my calls but the other ignores. However, my dad praises them. I speak to him multiple times a day and see him 3 to 4 times a week. One brother has seen him 7 times in a 13 months. The other brother dipped out of the situation 3 months ago. What do you do when it's too much? What do you do when the parent doesn't hear you no matter how many times you've talked about? What do you do when the parent wants to be difficult? Please be kind. Social media has been really rough these days. If you feel the need to fight or criticize heavily, please find another post.
