Need Some Really Good Advice
So I’ve been waitlisted at my second top school. I’m well networked into the school…very well networked, but it was an extremely competitive cycle and so it is what it is.
When I got the letter, I went to visit again for the millionth time. I took a tour, met with the people that I know, and the Dean, all of it. Later sent LOCI, later a professor there sent their recommendation on my behalf and then another one did. From my LOCI I received a response that it would be a while before the waitlist was touched because the deposit deadlines hadn’t passed and that it could be all the way until August 2025 before there was much movement on the waitlist with the cycle the way that it was.
Nothing new here….
But I later got a note from the Dean stating that they would really like the opportunity to be able to remove me from the waitlist and to add me to the entering class for 2025. I was thrilled and sent a very appropriately matched response.
After that, I didn’t really send any more letters because I knew or felt that I understood the Schools position and they had put in writing that it was their goal to have the opportunity for meeting to attend.
Now that August is coming near I’m not really sure if I should send another LOCI, I know that I can’t ask about the waitlist because that’s already been addressed. But I feel like I need to send something to ensure that I don’t fall off of the radar. But it can’t be something saying that I’m still interested would I?
I really like to be able to have an interaction with the school or be able to present something to them that’s new. The only thing that’s happened for me that is new is my getting a new job which is very good and important and relevant but I also don’t want to send the message that I’ve given up because I’m working now so , there’s no need to take me off the waitlist.
SIDE NOTE: I’m also concerned with the pending legislation that will put a cap on professional schools and the ability to borrow up to the COA. So if I’m not able to get off of this waitlist, it could be the end of the road for me.
I’m curious to know if anyone else has been (or is in) this dilemma and if so, what did you do or were advised to do in a situation like this?
Thanks!
