ChatGPT helped me with my eczema more than my dermatologist has and now I'm considering getting a new dermatologist.

small victory

I was not ok for a minute there. My leg was in so much pain and my eczema kept spreading. It was itchy, painful, and so dry that I couldn't do anything to moisturize it.

I told my dermatologist all of this and even mentioned that my normal treatment was doing nothing for it. Because it spread to behind my knee he told me that the pain I was experiencing was likely due to the sensitivity of the skin in that area. Basically told me to continue clobatisol and we finally found a cream that my insurance would cover that helped with the itch (Vtama).

Anyway, I was in literal torture and finally decided to take a picture and describe my symptoms to ChatGPT. ChatGPT told me that it believed that my eczema flare up was fungal driven. I bought over the counter fungal treatment (cream, soap, and powder) and about 3 days in the pain stopped. It was still dry as all hell, but it was no longer painful. And now (7 days into treatment), the dry skin is starting to peel and the skin underneath is beautiful. I am even applying it to my eczema spot as a whole and am seeing improvement there. ChatGPT told me to apply it daily for 2 weeks, so I am going to do that.

Apparently, this is a common thing with eczema....and I feel like the fact that my dermatologist didn't consider it after all the symptoms I told him, I should consider a different Dr. I think I'll give him another appointment to see how he handles the fungal situation but I'm annoyed yet just relieved that I'm finally seeing improvement.
