My ex and I have been broken up for about six months, but we’ve still been living together and occasionally hooking up during that time. We had a mutual agreement not to bring anyone we were seeing or talking to into our shared home. Recently, I started emotionally pulling back after connecting with someone new, and I think my ex started noticing the shift in my energy.
This weekend was my birthday. A couple of my close friends flew into town and stayed with us. Last weekend, we had gone to a festival called Electric Forest together (he had bought my ticket while we were still dating), and everything went fine on that trip. But shortly after we got back, I told him I no longer wanted to keep hooking up.

On my birthday weekend, he offered to drive my friends and me out for the night, but he ended up drinking quite a bit. My friends didn’t feel comfortable with him driving, and he refused to let my sober friend drive his car, so he left alone. We had to Uber back, which was $150+ to get home. The next morning when we saw him, we brought up how upsetting that was, the conversation got heated. Later that day, after my friends and I came back from the beach, he left me flowers and a note at home. That night, he went out separately from us, and when he called me to try to meet up I didn’t sound super enthusiastic, so things escalated again.

The following day, things continued to spiral. He got angry that my two friends didn’t say goodbye to him when they left to go to the airport, even though he was on a phone call when we were leaving. He then said he was going to start bringing girls over and started sending me a lot of intense messages. He also insulted my friends and made a few concerning comments that made me feel like things were getting out of control.

My EX ruining my birthday weekend… AIO??
