Why is there no cure for most mental illnesses?

Psychologists will tell you anyone with a history of mental illness should not join the military, and it makes me question why there is no way to fully treat mental illnesses. Half of gen z needs medication now, and it’s frustrating doctors don’t seem to care why so many are unhealthy
