Buying more shares if you think you will get assigned

I’ve got 10 160 NVDA CCs expiring August 1st

If I have capital to buy more shares and set my distribution method when assigned to highest cost average. Does it make sense to buy more shares if I have the capital to do so, with the plan to keep my lower cost average shares safe from assignment, and reduce capital gain taxes?

Or is it better to just take the L and buy to close them?

Other options such as rolling?

Is this a viable strategy?

You could say this is purely out of greed. Yes I wrote these contracts with the idea that if they got assigned I’d be happy with the gains. I will. But I didn’t expect it rip so quickly. And would like to keep some shares as I’m not sure what I will do with the capital if they all get assigned.
