How to "future proof" career to my best ability
I'm 24 years old, just out of college a year ago and halfway through on my first contract in China and loving it! I have a I want to "future proof" my career to the best of my ability as I am someone who likes to prepare ahead of time to make sure my position is secure. I understand that in China as a foreign worker you are at the whims of the government and teaching job market, however I want to do everything I can do to give myself the best chances.
I'm currently at a training center and having a great experience with good support from management, no sketchy visa or residence permit shenanigans and good salary / hours. On top of this my school hasn't suffered student wise and my position feels pretty secure. All of that being said I'm still considering switching jobs at the end of my contract to transition into a more traditional teaching role if possible at a public / private school. From others experiences in China, would I be stupid to give up the security and quality of my current job? Should I just stick it out for as long as I can and save up some money before transitioning, or would it be best to switch to something with more upward trajectory as soon as possible?
