Just calculated my EV savings and I'm STOKED!

I recently switched to a BYD Atto 3 and I'm loving the ride! As I'm approaching the end of my first year, I decided to crunch some numbers to see how much I've saved.

Here's my question: If my EV has a battery warranty of 8 years, how much can I expect to save in fuel and maintenance costs during that time?

The numbers:

• Fuel costs for previous car:
  • Distance driven per year: 20,000 km
  • Fuel efficiency: 9 km/liter
  • Total liters consumed per year: 20,000 km / 9 km/liter = 2,222.22 liters/year
  • Fuel cost per liter: 60 pesos
  • Total fuel cost per year: 2,222.22 liters/year * 60 pesos/liter = 133,333.20 pesos/year
• Fuel costs for EV:
  • Distance driven per year: 20,000 km
  • Energy consumption: 16 kWh/100km
  • Total kWh consumed per year: 20,000 km / 100 km = 200 units of 100 km. Each unit consumes 16 kWh, so total kWh = 200 * 16 = 3,200 kWh/year
  • Cost per kWh: 12 pesos
  • Total fuel cost per year: 3,200 kWh/year * 12 pesos/kWh = 38,400 pesos/year
• Annual fuel savings: 133,333.20 pesos/year (previous car) - 38,400 pesos/year (EV) = 94,933.20 pesos/year
• Maintenance costs:
  • Previous car: Quarterly maintenance (every 5,000-7,500 km) costs around 5,000-7,000 pesos per visit. Let's assume an average of 6,000 pesos per visit, so 24,000 pesos/year.
  • EV (BYD Atto 3): Annual maintenance costs around 5,000-7,000 pesos. Let's assume an average of 6,000 pesos/year.
  • Annual maintenance savings: 18,000 pesos/year
• Total annual savings: 94,933.20 (fuel) + 18,000 (maintenance) = 112,933.20 pesos/year
• Additional perk: I also get to enjoy free charging at SM malls, which isn't factored into these savings!

8-year savings: 112,933.20 pesos/year * 8 years = 903,465.60 pesos

The potential resell value of my car after 8 years might be lower than my previous car, but these savings more than offset that potential difference. I'm essentially breaking even on the car's value while enjoying the benefits of electric vehicle ownership.
