does my game data switch with accounts?

hi guys. so pretty much, i was given my step-brothers old PS4 and, for a few months or so, have been using his account to play games.

i was wondering if i make my own account on the console, would i have to restart all my games, or would it still be the same? i hope that makes sense. thanks!
