AITA for yelling at my mom for not letting me sleep in my room for a night?
I live with 4 people in a 2-room house, my grandma, my mom, and my uncle and me (the youngests). The two rooms belong to me and my uncle so originally I had my own room.
About 3 years ago (just for age reference I’m about to start high school) my mom started sleeping in my room and in my bed. It was because my grandma would constantly complain about her sleeping in the living room, and my mom didn’t want to deal with hearing it anymore. I have a twin-sized bed, so we were sharing that.
Eventually, a few months later, I decided to just sleep in the living room instead. All I really wanted was my own space. The problem is that the couch I’ve been sleeping on is super uncomfortable. It dips in the middle so my back ends up bent all night, and it hurts a lot. On top of that, the couch is flea infested now because of my uncle’s dog. The fleas don’t bite me and I do try to keep my cat flea-free, but the dog just keeps giving them back to my cat 😞. I wish I could do something about it but the dog isn’t mine. Also, when my mom used to sleep on the couch it wasn’t flea infested back then because we had just moved in and the dog didn’t have fleas yet.
Fast forward to now I’m still sleeping out here and have for about 2 and half years or so while my mom sleeps in my room every night. but despite that, she still complains about the bed being too hard on her back or that she can hear my grandma from the living room...but i’m literally over here on a flea infested couch having to hear my grandma watching her telenovelas on blast while talking to her boyfriend.
So once in a while i ask if for just one night she could sleep on the couch so I could sleep in my own bed. I’m never rude about it. I don’t yell (sorry for the clickbait title). I just explain how I feel and ask if she could make that trade for one night. But she always says no and says i’m being ungrateful and rude to her since she has to work her life off for me just for me to want her to sleep out her.
I get that she works hard and I know she’s tired and I don’t want to seem ungrateful but am I really wrong for asking to sleep in my own bed for one night? I feel bad because she does deserve rest in a better space, but it’s not like I don’t. So… aita?
feel free to ask questions <3
