Is it okay to eat whatever I want?

I’m 6’0 160 pounds male in my early 20s. I’ve also never been above 165 in my life. I would say I have a skinny fat build, I look skinny in clothes and I don’t really have a gut. But I know I have low muscle mass and not that very strong in my opinion. I’ve worked out before but usually like in 2-3 months phases and I haven’t lifted weights in close to a year.

I started up 2 weeks ago and I’m more motivated than I have ever been. I have a target weight of 175 and I know that will take a while to achieve. I’ve been working out at least 4 days a week and I have a job where I walk a majority of the day (7-9 miles average).

To build mass and muscle, can I just eat everything and anything? I’d say I eat about 50/50 (healthy/unhealthy). I rarely drink soda and I don’t drink alcohol. If anyone else has had a similar story to mine, can you share any tips on how to put on a healthy weight without being on a strict diet?
