A random thought about Christopher McQuarrie's unusual approach to making the MI films
So famously Christopher McQuarrie has a strange way of making the MI movies where essentially they start with the key set pieces and action sequences they want to do. The story is then written around those moments, they're essentially making the story up as they go along throughout production.
Isn't this "style" of storytelling pretty much the plot of >!The Usual Suspects!< (also written by McQuarrie)? >!Keyser Soze is looking at a bunch of stuff on the pinboard and is just making up the story as he goes along.!<
Maybe I'm reaching but I thought it was an interesting parallel.
