Crush/Willoughby connection theory

i know inbred, the album featuring crush, is an alternate universe timeline of ethel’s life where she is born as a set of twins. she seems attracted to someone very unlike willoughby in the song crush.

i think when she sings “the neighbors son came home in a box” she is talking about willoughby but she never had the strong connection with him. so he’s just a boy who was nearby. in this universe her twin kept her safe, so she never ran into anyone’s arms for comfort.

i know this is a big reach but it adds up pretty well with him going to war. i’d love to hear other people’s thoughts or lyrics that connect or disconnect this theory!
