Returning player

Hi guys! I used to play magic waaaay back (maybe 20 years) with my brothers. Now each of us lives in different cities and countries. We are seeing each other at christmas and I was hopping to gift each a deck so we can play, but with all the changes to the game im confused. What do you guys recommend? Standar decks? Commander? Buy precons? Singles?
