PC not seeing any storage devices when new m.2 drive is installed.

I have a new 2tb m.2 SSD and when i install it into my otherwise working PC, the PC is super slow to boot, but eventually goes to the BIOS where it shows that no drives are connected.

I checked to make sure the m.2 slot wasnt on the same lanes as the other SATA drives, and according to the manual they are not. Ive tried the other m.2 slot as well.

my other computer is an Unraid server and the same new drive makes it very unhappy as well. Though its much harder to troubleshoot what is going wrong with that one.

it might be a weird format issue, but I cant get the drive to be recognized on any operating system in order to reformat it.

im way past the return date for it unfortunately. I thought about trying to plug it into a cheap adapter that turns m.2 drives into external USB drives just so I can check it that way but im not sure its worth it. Mighty just be a bad drive. Any tips?
