Phone Theft

So I don't know how it happened but somehow I left my phone with this order at this house. Which I know exactly where it is. I went back to see if they had it but they said no. But must have been lying because then I used Find My iPhone and it was already traveling to the college campus where I guess they sold it or something. I don't really know. Anyway. I'm just wondering. I just really want this person to get in trouble for stealing my phone. I will make a police report but is there anything I can do to ensure that it's followed up on? Or how I can really make their life hell? I'm very mad.
