Is it worth getting a slightly newer Honda HR-V?

Buying

I currently have a 2018 HRV EX AWD which I really like and I'm looking to get a slightly newer pre-owned 2022 or 2023 of the same model and trim.

I really like my car, but it's sitting around 90,000 miles and I've heard the transmissions tend to snap around this mile range which is a $7,000 repair. I'm currently commuting around 70 miles a day, but my living situation is gonna change next summer and I doubt I'm gonna be putting more than 5,000 miles a year on my car for the next 5-10 years (for medical school and residency if anyone is curious why).

My plan is to keep running my car to the ground commuting for the next 6 months and then trade it in for a newer HR-V with around 30,000 miles in december. This way I won't need to worry about the transmission for a long time and I'd have a slightly nicer car with less thinking about it for the next 10 years.

My KBB is around 11,000 and I see similar 2018 HR-Vs for sale around 13,000. The newer car would be in the 20-22,000 range so i'm hoping it would be around 10-12,000 in total. I have the money saved up to buy in cash so I won't be financing. Assuming my transmission will 100% definitely snap, this seems like a good idea but idk if I'm over-paranoid or not.

Does this make sense? I've been thinking about this for a few weeks but I wanted to consult reddit for some more opinions to see if I'm delusional or not lol.
