Sayyidi Younus AlGohar explains why Moula Ali did not come to rescue Imam Hussain during the Battle of Karbala at the request of a viewer.

Summary:

•	When Ameer Muawiya handed over control of the Islamic Sultanate to his son, Yazid, the people of Kufa wrote letters saying that Yazid was a sinner and they would not pledge allegiance to him. 'Pledging allegiance' meant to accept Yazid as the Caliph - it was their equivalent of the voting system we have today. So Imam Hussain sent Muslim ibn Aqil to Kufa as his representative and take people’s pledge of allegiance on his behalf. 40 000 people joined him. Yazid and his government were watching this closely and feared what they saw as a rebellion. The politicians advised Yazid to get Imam Hussain to pledge allegiance to him in order to quash the ‘rebellion’. On the other hand, the religious scholars Yazid had with him brainwashed him into thinking that he was on the right path as Ameer ul Momineen and that Imam Hussain should pledge allegiance to him.

•	Yazid told Ibn Ziyad and the army to forcefully take their pledge of allegiance by threatening and terrorising. But Ibn Ziyad did not threaten or terrorise. He directly declared war against them. Many Muslims of the time were among the hypocrites and Kharijites and they bore grudges against the Prophet's progeny. It is very easy for us to say that Yazid was a terrible man and he is hell-bound now - but back then they were all known as 'Muslims'. When the Prophet's Household was beheaded and their heads were brought to Yazid, Yazid began to play with their heads. And he said, 'God has granted victory to the truth.' This proves he was hell-bound and his hidden agenda was to butcher the Household of Prophet Mohammad all along.

•	Now why did this incident take place and why didn't Moula Ali come to help? He did not come to save Imam Hussain because everything that happened in Karbala was done on the orders of God. When Imam Hussain and Imam Hassan were children, Gabriel came and took promises from Prophet Mohammad in regards to them. He brought two outfits from paradise. One was red and Imam Hussain was made to wear it. The other was green and Imam Hassan was made to wear it. So the one who had the wear the green outfit was killed by being poisoned. And the one who wore the red outfit was martyred in Karbala. Imam Hussain's martyrdom is the Zakat (charity) of Rapturous Love of Prophet Mohammad.

•	Prophet Mohammad intensely loved Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain - and perhaps in the moments he spent with them, he forgot that he was the Leader of Prophets. Sometimes he would have them ride on his back and let them use his hair like reins. Sometimes they would jump on his shoulders while he was in prostration to God - and lest they may fall if he raised his head, he would remain in prostration for hours on end. The love was extreme, so God said that it had become too much.

•	Similarly, His Divine Eminence Gohar Shahi said, 'If I like somebody, I do not thoroughly look at them. Because whoever I look at properly, God will take that person away.'

•	Hurr ibn Riyahi was the commander of Yazid's army who snuck over to Imam Hussain in Karbala and offered to help him escape. He did this for three nights but in the morning, Imam Hussain would see that despite having left under the cover of night, he and his family hadn’t left the battlefield. It was as if they were walking in circles. Then in a dream, Prophet Mohammad came to Imam Hussain and told him that he was to be martyred in Karbala. He told his family the next day and advised them to leave, but they didn’t want to leave him there alone. So they were killed one after the other. In the end, Imam Hussain had 320 sword wounds. And not a single wound was on his back. They were all on the front of his body.

**Why Did Maula Ali Not Extend His Help During Karbala?**

Sheikh Saba Alauddin from Saudi Arabia asks: My question is about Karbala and its reality.

There were only 72 people there. Were there no other Muslims in the neighbouring areas who could come to their aid? Why did the Household of the Prophet have to be martyred? On one side [Hussain] was the grandson of Prophet Mohammad and on the other hand, he was Ali's son.

We all raise slogans of Ali's name but why didn't he come to help the progeny of the Prophet? Why didn't anyone else come? What kind of message were they giving to the world?

Some Prophetic Traditions state that whenever Imam Hussain would try to escape from Karbala at night, he would find himself in the same spot where he began in the morning. Why didn't Imam Hussain seek help from those who could have killed Yazid? Although, Imam Hussain asked, 'Is there anyone who can help me?' And we know that Imam Hussain wrote two letters, one to Yazid and the other to Chandaragupta in India. And that's when an Indian Army was then sent there. Is any of this true?

Why didn't anybody come to help the Prophet's Household? The Companions of Prophet Mohammad were present in that era but nobody went with the Prophet's Household. If any of the Companions wanted to go with them, they would have accompanied them when they left Medina but they didn't.

In Imam Hussain's adolescence, the sons of Abu Bakr Siddiq and Umar bin Khattab were very aggressive young adults. Imam Hussain was extremely fond of Abu Bakr Siddiq's son. They were very close friends. Even before Imam Hussain's migration to Karbala, the sons of Abu Bakr Siddiq and Umar bin Khattab were very vocal and they would openly give their statements against Yazid. They would often try to convince Imam Hussain to fight Yazid with them, but Imam Hussain would always stay silent.

When Ameer Muawiya made his son [Yazid] the successor and his acts of tyranny increased, the people of Kufa sent letters seeking aid [from Imam Hussain]. Keep in mind that in the recent past, the Sultanate of Islam was divided into two groups. Ali was the Caliph of one area and Ameer Muawiya was the Caliph of another area.

After Ali was martyred, people insisted that Imam Hassan become the next Caliph. Imam Hassan was the Caliph for a period of 6 months. However, after 6 months, Imam Hassan desired to abdicate the Office of Caliph. He did not wish to be a Caliph any longer. He did not want anymore bloodshed and so he decided to abdicate the Office of Caliph. When Imam Hassan abdicated, Ameer Muawiya gained control over the entire region. Do you understand?

Now, those who were known as the admirers of Ali (Shian-e-Haider) - when Ameer Muawiya's son reigned over the entire region - those people then wrote letters saying that [Yazid] was a sinner and they would not pledge allegiance to him. 'Pledging allegiance' meant to accept [Yazid] as the Caliph. Just like we have the system of voting, they had the system of pledging allegiance in that era. Pledging allegiance means to accept their Office of Caliph. If they didn't accept them as the Caliph, they would not pledge allegiance to them.

Now, there were small groups of people in different locations who would raise their voices and say, 'Our Caliph must be from among the progeny of the Messenger of God.' They would be referring to Imam Hussain. They wrote many letters, around 150 letters. It would take at least 5 months to write 150 letters, if one writes a letter every day. What do you think? But they would not have written a letter a day. So it means a long time passed and they waited.

Imam Hussain then sent Muslim ibn Aqil to the people who wrote those letters. He instructed him to accept their pledge of allegiance on his behalf. Muslim ibn Aqil went there. Upon his arrival, those people welcomed him warmly.

Now, this incident whereby Muslim ibn Aqil travelled to Kufa as the representative of Imam Hussain and 40,000 people joined him - Yazid and all of his companions were closely observing everything that was going on. The people in his government were also watching. The religious clerics who had joined Yazid were also observing everything.

Upon this observation, they said - and this is what [Yazid and his followers said], it is not what I am saying - that a rebellion is on the rise. I'm certain this is the type of language they used. 'A rebellion is rearing its head. How should it be dealt with?' Yazid was quite wary because he knew he faced the progeny of Prophet Mohammad.

What actually happened was that the religious clerics of the time filled Yazid's head. They told him, 'You are on the right path. So what if it is the Prophet's progeny? You are the Ameer ul Momineen and they must pledge allegiance to you.' And they showed him different Koranic verses to solidify his belief that after God and Prophet Mohammad the command of the Ulool ul Amar is the greatest. And they told him that Imam Hussain must pledge allegiance to him and accept him as Caliph.

The politicians of the time gave Yazid political advice, saying that Instead of doing anything to the people [of Kufa], it would be better if Imam Hussain himself announced his pledge of allegiance to Yazid - and the rebellion would be put down. Because these 40,000 people had joined Muslim ibn Aqil with the support of Imam Hussain. They said, 'Therefore (and this was the political advice) you should control Imam Hussain.' And then the religious clerics told Yazid that they must pledge allegiance to you as you are the Ameer ul Momineen.

The leader of Yazid's army was called Ibn Ziyad. The truth is that Yazid did not instruct him to kill [the progeny of Prophet Mohammad]. Yazid told [Ibn Ziyad and the army] to forcefully take their pledge of allegiance by threatening and terrorising. But Ibn Ziyad did not threaten or terrorise. He directly declared war against them. Many Muslims of the time were among the hypocrites and Kharijites and they bore grudges [against the Prophet's progeny].

It is very easy for us to say that Yazid was a terrible man and he is hell-bound. We are saying such things today, after the Incident of Karbala transpired, but back then they were all known as 'Muslims'. Just like today, when we curse the people of Anjuman-e-Sarfaroshan-e-Islam, people object as to why we are cursing [His Divine Eminence's] progeny. But if the world was going to live on, what would the history books say [about this era]? It would be written that the children [of HDE Gohar Shahi] rebelled. And then it would say that this group of people [Mehdi Foundation International led by Sayyidi Younus AlGohar] stood up against them and spread the mission [of HDE Gohar Shahi]. The [family] rebelled, rejecting HDE Gohar Shahi's Office of Mehdihood. But history won't be written about this era, because this is the End Times. However, whatever happened 1400 years ago was very painful.

Yes, Yazid did not instruct his army to kill the Prophet's Household, he only told them to terrorise them and threaten them. However, when the Prophet's Household were beheaded and their heads were brought to Yazid, Yazid began to play with their heads. And he said, 'God has granted victory to the truth.' And he blasphemed the blessed heads [of the members of the Prophet's Household]. And we come to understand from his actions that Yazid was a predestined hell-bound soul. And his hidden agenda was to butcher the Household of Prophet Mohammad.

And there, Syeda Zainab stood up and showed more courage than men. And she delivered a moving speech and she yelled. And I remember that on many occasions in Pakistan, I would be sitting with His Divine Eminence Gohar Shahi - and I heard it from HDE Gohar Shahi's mouth, 'A time will come when we will avenge the Veil of Zainab.' 'A time will come when we will avenge the Veil of Zainab.' What is that retribution? This is a matter of policy. And it is not to be spoken about.

In that era, many great and senior Companions did not go [to accompany Imam Hussain]. Now, we are today's Muslims. Whatever took place is before us, because it has all already happened. While the incidents are taking place, you don't know what is happening clearly and you don't know what to do. Now, everything has already happened. But if you were living in that era and you were a senior Companion, you would have thought highly of yourself and objected to [Imam Hussain] not consulting you. Many narrations mention that the Companions said they were not asked [to accompany Imam Hussain].

Now why did this incident take place and why didn't Moula Ali come to help? Don't ruin your tenets. Don't think, 'Moula Ali didn't save Imam Hussain, so why should I seek help from him?' Don't ruin your tenet for [Moula Ali]. Moula Ali will come to help everyone [who asks for his help]. However, Moula Ali did not come to save Imam Hussain because everything that happened - Imam Hussain's martyrdom - was done [with God's will].

When Imam Hussain and Imam Hassan were children, Gabriel came and took promises from Prophet Mohammad in regards to them. He brought two outfits from paradise. One was red and Imam Hussain was made to wear it. The other was green and Imam Hassan was made to wear it. So the one who had to wear the green outfit was killed by being poisoned. And the one who wore the red outfit was martyred in Karbala. This is how God wanted it to be. Promises [in regards to their fates] had already been made. Imam Hussain's martyrdom is the Zakat (charity) of Rapturous Love of Prophet Mohammad. What is Imam Hussain's martyrdom? The Zakat (charity) of Rapturous Love of Prophet Mohammad.

Because when Prophet Mohammad used to play with Imam Hussain and Imam Hassan, perhaps in those moments, he would forget that he is the Leader of Prophets. He loved the children so much. Sometimes he would have them ride on his back. And [Imam Hussain and Imam Hassan] would say that they had nothing to hold onto, so Prophet Mohammad would untie his hair and tell them to use it like reins.

Prophet Mohammad loved them so intensely that God had to interfere. Yes. Because even when Prophet Mohammad was offering Salat and was in the state of prostration, then Imam Hussain and Imam Hassan would run to Prophet Mohammad and sit on his back while he was in prostration. They loved Prophet Mohammad very much and then Prophet Mohammad, too, loved them deeply. So Prophet Mohammad was in prostration and Imam Hussain and Imam Hassan came and sat nearly on top of his neck. And if Prophet Mohammad lifted his head, the boys would fall over. Therefore he would remain in that position of prostration for many hours at a time. This was Prophet Mohammad's extreme love [for Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain].

The love was extreme, so God said that it had become too much. Similarly, His Divine Eminence Gohar Shahi said, 'If I like somebody, I do not thoroughly look at them.' 'If I like someone - my children or someone else - I do not look at them properly.' 'Because whoever I look at properly, God will take that person away.'

The way Prophet Mohammad intensely loved Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain - what would they enjoy in life after they had learnt the lessons of love in Prophet Mohammad's arms? There is no greater reward or principal in life than the taste of love they were given in Prophet Mohammad's [close proximity]. Right? Sometimes, Prophet Mohammad would kiss their necks. Or their lips and eyes. The more love Prophet Mohammad gives someone, the more the world will defame them.

So the reason Moula Ali did not help them - Prophet Mohammad also could have helped them - however, this was an order from God. Promises had been made. Signatures had been given. It was bound to happen.

Otherwise, Hurr ibn Riyahi had told [Imam Hussain to escape] three times. Hurr ibn Riyahi was the commander of Yazid's army. He snuck away to Imam Hussain and told him that he deeply respected him. He said, 'I will blow out the fires. Escape in the cover of night. Go back.' He said this on the first night and in the morning, he saw that Imam Hussain's caravan was still roaming about there.

So Hurr ibn Riyahi went to Imam Hussain and respectfully asked why he was still there [in the battlefield of Karbala]. Imam Hussain replied, 'We did leave but when morning came, we saw that we were still here.' So then Hurr ibn Riyahi told Imam Hussain to leave that night. The same thing happened on the second night. This happened for three nights in a row. They would leave at night but when morning came, they would see that they had been walking in circles. They would find themselves 10 feet or sometimes 20 feet away from their starting point. This continued to happen for three nights.

Then Imam Hussain had a dream and he was shown what was going to happen there. Prophet Mohammad came in his dream and told him, 'This is where you are to be martyred.' 'You will be martyred here.'

After that, Imam Hussain gathered everyone in his family and he told them what the situation was. He told them, '[God] wants me to be sacrificed.' 'You are not mentioned in this. God only wants me to be sacrificed.' 'So I will put out the fire, and you all should leave.' 'The reason we had been unable to escape for the past three days was because this is where I am to be martyred.' 'You have no part in this, so leave.'

But nobody left. They said, 'How can we leave you here and go? Whatever is to be will be.'

After that, the [killing] started. One after the other. Before, there would be one-on-one battles. But after that when Imam Hussain came into the battlefield, everybody attacked. There were 320 sword wounds on his body. How many? There were 320 sword wounds on his body. And not a single wound was on his back. They were all on the front of his body. Which shows that Imam Hussain fought valiantly with his chest out and head high; he did not turn his back to them. 320 wounds were just those from swords.
