How do you deal with unsolicited advice while playing?

General Discussion

Played a round with a random golfer today. I shoot low 90’s and occasional high 80’s, so not exactly a very good player. I hit the ball straight but not long and therefore don’t usually get to green in regulation very often. But can chip and putt well, so getting my pars that way.

Anyway, this random guy kept giving me advice on how to “add yardage to your shots” (e.g., shoulder turn, weight shifts, how high to tee my ball, etc). He’s saying these while I’m betting him in almost every hole because while he hitting them far, his balls are all over the place, hardly in the fairway (unless wrong fairway). Im fairly cordial guy so I just nod and go “yep”, to avoid awkwardness for the rest of the round. But part of me wanted to just say, why don’t you just worry about keeping your effing ball in play.

Anyway, how do you guys deal with this kind of golfer?
