Your date may haves fundamentally different life experience than you…it’s okay to tell them!

So, for example, I’ve been dating a guy who’s pretty social. He lived in the city, has a pretty manageable and well-paying role, and prefers to be hedonistic.

He’s always going to social events getting to know others who could be friends or potential partners.

For me, I live out in the suburbs. Food desserts or no clubs or bars worth going to plague my town. It’s harder for me to meet people without putting in extra money, mental energy, and time out of my schedule. I’m in a lower-paying profession and don’t always have the money nor time since I’m more of a grunt than anything.

There’s quite a bit of tension I feel already. I feel envious that he’s able to meet guys so easily and put himself out there. I haven’t really had the opportunity to do so in my life and still haven’t. I’m also not as conventionally attractive as he and I don’t drink as often which I think hurts my chances.

He also recently came out, and I believe that even though he finds interest in me he really doesn’t want to pigeonhole himself with me so, many times it’s been cold between our meetups.

I don’t know if this will work out. I’ve been going back and forth about it for weeks. The big thing is that he’s Ace/demi and I’m not. He doesn’t really become sexually attracted to people, but he can get aroused just not when he’s involved in any way. There’s a chance he may flip a switch if he favors me as romantically viable but I don’t know.

I’m not sure. I think he’s testing his waters. He just came out so I didn’t expect him to be ready to commit for a long time, but I’m kinda preparing myself for the other shoe to drop. I haven’t brought up this feeling with him in a while because I don’t want to put strain on us.

Weirdly enough, I want to meet other guys too. I just don’t have the money, time, or mental energy left after working my demanding job.

What should I do? I’ve told him once about feeling envious and left out…I even tried getting a raise and failed…
