How to respond to sibling that questions everything
If there's something "weird" happening like an emotional reaction or self expression or an opinion not purely based on logic (the exception of it being something that they personal like or do) they opnely call it into question.
(disclaimer quotes are best guesses of what was said my memory isn't super clear)
Like I remember my mom raging and while I was freaking out they were like "You never reacted this way before why are you doing that?" and I tried to explain that it's just how I felt and me being more in tune with my emotions and they were just like "But why? It didn't seem to bother you before you just went to another room and kept playing"
I tried chilling and watching a show with them and they were questioning the characters "I wonder why people like them react that way the other characters don't seem to have that issue" and the whole point of the episode was that people can have the same experiences and feelings and react differently. It was about PTSD.
I tried talking to them before saying that it was invalidating so they started just giving me obvious looks or saying "Okaaaay" in an annoying voice that basically said "You can do you but I don't think that's a good idea"
I try confronting them about that too and they just said they didn't mean to hurt my feelings. I tell them not to do it anyway and confused but defeated they just go "Okay fair enough I guess..." and they act distant and hurt and I don't want to they can be really helpful and supportive but they do this kind of stuff often and I constantly just feel angry and hurt about it. And then they judge me with our dad saying I am willfully stubborn and immature. It's so annoying I started spending less time with my others siblings as well because they pointed out that I was avoiding them but always wanted to be around our brother and I felt bad but I couldn't do it to myself to push myself even more to spend time and get along with them so I just started getting distant from them too.
I feel like an ass but I really wish they cared. But according to them if they don't understand something it doesn't deserve respect and it's disrespectful to expect respect from someone who disagrees with you.
