Disabled signing guidence

Passport Question / Discussion

I have been all over the travel dotstate.gov website I have even called the passport division of the state department. I cannot find any specific guidelines for my situation. I recently renewed my passport. I have the new new passport in hand, but it is not signed. My old passport was signed. I cannot use my hands or arms so I cannot sign my new passport with a traditional signature. I would like to sign it by Marc, but I cannot find any specific guidelines on how to do this I can make a mark (perhaps a fingerprint) without anyone holding my hand. Then what? Do I need to print my name on the signature line? Do I need to put a witnesses name on the signature line? Does the witness need to sign my passport on the signature line? I can get a notarized affidavit from a witness, swearing that it was me who signed the passport. I can get a letter of disability from my doctor saying that I cannot sign my passport in the traditional way. I’m considering getting a rubber stamp stating “mark of: John Doe “ ,” witnessed by: Jane Doe” and use this in conjunction with my Mark (finger print) and the handwritten signature of Jane Doe . I believe this will work with the majority of legal documents., but I cannot find any specific guidance for passports. Obviously, I do not want to mess up my passport and have to re-apply.
