Wife heading to Bridgeport for job...areas to avoid? Recommendations for housing?

Hi all!

My wife is in healthcare and has taken a 3 (maybe 6) month job in Bridgeport at a hospital there.

We are currently in the midst of looking for housing and have come across a few listings that leave us puzzled.

Listings will say things like "This area used to have quite the reputation...but that is in the past!"

Or the apartment will look nice and then the outside looks like this.

We have tried furnished finders as an option but the 3 we really liked refused to allow me, her husband, to come visit every 3rd week for 4 days each time...and one was a guy who made it a point to repeat he was single over and over...so it's looking like we will need to get her own place unless something changes.

Any recs for looking for good short term housing? I'd feel more comfortable if she had 1-2 female roommates but, again, doesn't seem like it'll be easy...
