How have you implemented automatic deletion of temporary files on Windows (Server & PC) in line with ISO 27018 A.5.1?

Low Quality

We're revisiting our current implementation for automated deletion of temporary files across our Windows infrastructure. While we have something in place, we're not fully convinced it's the best approach—and we’re now reviewing options to better align with ISO/IEC 27018, particularly clause A.5.1 (Information Security Policies).

💡 We’d really like to learn how others have tackled this on:

  • Windows PCs (e.g., Windows 11)
  • Windows Server (e.g., 2022)

Questions we’re exploring:

  • Did you use Group Policy, PowerShell scripts, Storage Sense, or other tools?
  • How did you differentiate between user-level and system-level temp file cleanup?
  • Do you clean up logs, recycle bins, browser caches, or other temporary paths?
  • How do you document, audit, or justify the policy for compliance?

🎯 Our goal is to ensure temp files are regularly deleted, consistently and securely, to meet ISO 27018 A.5.1 compliance requirements.

If you've implemented something that works well—or learned what not to do—I’d really appreciate your insights.

Thanks in advance!
