I just turned 20 today.

It's been quite the life. 2025 has so far been an extraordinary year. My birthday marks exactly half way through it.

I thought I'd start the day in Church so I woke up early and went on alone to mass. I was nice. Spoke with the other choir afterwards. I'm also in the choir, just a different schedule. I have a piano scholarship arrangement in order.

Enter my beloved choir leader, let's call her T. They call me "T's scholar" Not knowing my name.

I only met T when I signed up to join the choir only about a month ago and she's already bought me a uniform and a Bible but we couldn't meet on my birthday, because she's currently on the other bloody side of the world on business. For added info, my family and I are like dirt poor and Sister T is like... I dunno, Filipino equivalent of CIA government or something.

Then we talk over the internet and she asks for my address and all that and we talk and the next thing I know, a delivery man comes over with like a week's worth of food and a customized cake and I'm just stupid giggling at this point. I thank her profusely.

My dad loves it. My mother doesn't. She lives somewhere else. She greets me nonetheless and we're all mostly happy.

My mother is an atheist and she absolutely despises it that I've gone full Catholic. More so hates my father but that won't stop my day.

The day goes on. I end it with a public post with a picture of my cake, with captions of thanks to my parents and to Sister T for being my sponsor.

And my mother responds by making a post about how I have no respect for her in putting her name beside my father's name in my thank you post and that she'd rather I just not mention her at all instead of being put beside them Catholics. She said she was "the one" who birthed me and got the C-section and all that and bled, not "them".

Well that's true... Hence my thanks. Which she won't accept in the way I want to put it.

As I lay here on my bed, 45 mins away from ending my day... I can't help but feel a little sad now.

Why can't we all just get along? Why can't I thank my mother and my father and my friend and it be all well and happy and good?

I guess, thanks be to God. Still a good day. I love it. Mom's negative about it, meh.

Just thought I'd share my day. Was nice. Thanks be to God.
