I cant stand my husbands dog.

I really need advice on what to do here. My husband (20M) and I (21F) got married 5 months ago and I can't stand the sight of his dog. He has had him before we ever got together and at first I was okay with him since my husband would be more cautious of him about anything (if he barked too much he would quiet him, if he tried to bite me he would yell at him, if he was being nasty he would stop him immediately) but now that we are married and live together it seems like he doesn't care what the dog does. I told him I can't stand his barking and all he says is "he's a dog, what else is he supposed to do", and proceeds to let him bark for the next 5 minutes nonstop. The dog always smells bad and is also in need of constant attention, which my husband gladly gives and often just forgets about whatever we were doing together.

I don't hate dogs, in fact I've always liked them and even had one myself when I was a kid. But I have never met a dog as annoying as his and its hard for me to act like im fine around it when im not. My husband thinks that whatever he does is okay and that I should just accept it because he's a dog (even though his dog has bit me hard twice already), and even though I told him that my dog was never like his he just gets defensive and continues to spoil him and enforce his bad nature. I dont know what to do anymore pls help, I have grown a huge hatred for this dog that even looking at it boils my blood. I know its not the dogs fault but the owner's, but my husband just doesn't listen when I tell him that he should train his dog better.
