Can I talk to the LOA Own Injury dept to extend the documentation letter?

I took a 1 day leave on May 26th, submitted some docs but still on fully approval until this day, can I still call them and extend the document deadline due to doctor is on vacation? I am trying to avoid to get UPT out of my schedule, I have no problem since I have hours to cover but I want to make sure of you experience this before.
