is other countries using different math signs?

so i just saw a post in my feed from r/PeterExplainsTheJoke . and its about math problem curiously opening the comment, i see a comment that say"Can colons be used as division signs?" i swear when i was elementary the teacher using that colons to explains divisions problems.
