SSD Toasted. 2280 or..?

QUESTION

Hi fam.

I have a unit I bought on launch day from microcenter. Upgraded to 2tb SSD which as of recently kept getting hotter and hotter.. until dead today.

Microcenter wants no part of supporting the 5yr Visiontek SSD warranty claiming the SSD was covered under the manufacturers warranty which is expired. Visiontek won't warranty anything that's not registered.

So the question is should I considered a new back plate and 2280 SSD or go with another 2242? If 2242, any feedback on models that don't cook themselves?

I'm interested in performance but more so lower heat and better internal component longevity.

Thanks.
