Severe symptoms are not something to envy
It honestly makes me uncomfortable when people try to one-up my pain or act like theirs isn’t valid just because mine looks more extreme. It’s like… I’m sorry my symptoms are so severe they make you feel unseen? But how is that my fault? Someone once told me I was “lucky” that I can break down, scream, and cry wherever I am…. but that’s not lucky. That’s not freedom, that’s dysregulation. I collapse because I can’t hold it in, not because I get to choose. Suppressing your emotions might be unhealthy, but it’s still a form of control… and that control is a privilege I don’t have. Please don’t resent me for how my pain shows up. And me expressing my own pain does NOT invalidate yours.
I’m sorry you feel unseen.. truly. But the severity of my symptoms isn’t the reason for that. And if you envy how “expressive” I am PLEASE don’t. Breaking down constantly isn’t freeing, it’s debilitating. Being worse doesn’t make people care more. It just makes them understand you less.
